A few months ago we had a storm and the power went out.
I had to sit by candle light with no TV, no internet. Not even heat.
Although it only got down to 62 I was freezing!
So I read by candlelight with Ali sleeping on my lap and realized how relaxing it is.
So from now on I am vowing to spend at least one hr a night with nothing on (maybe just my laptop so I can write) with no TV or sound and just light from the candle.
It made me think about women back in the Pioneer days. Sitting at home with her children, snow and wind beating relentlessly at the walls of her uninsulated house. Praying her husband will return safely with dinner for the next day. How strong they must of been!
No thermostat to turn up the heat, instead having to keep the fire roaring all through the night
No light switch to turn on to see a path to your crying babies
No stove or microwave to warm the baby bottles
No oven to cook a quick meal.
No toilet!!!
The only source of entertainment a good book, a bible, your children or your imagination.
How simple ...
